What it means
↑ Upright
Order that holds and shelters: a stone throne, rams' heads on its arms, a ruler who keeps his seat. It points to structure, clear responsibility and the steadiness to see a plan through. Where things feel loose, set the terms — a timetable, a rule, a decision someone has to own — and keep to them so others can rely on you.
↓ Reversed
Authority out of balance: either the grip tightens into control that will not bend, or the structure is missing and someone is acting younger than the role demands, and both block the way forward. Ask what the rule is for; keep the part that protects people and loosen the part that only protects a position.
A crowned king in armor sits enthroned before bare mountains. The rams' heads on his throne are the sign of Aries, which stands for beginnings, drive and command; the scepter in his right hand is the ankh, the Egyptian sign of life, and the orb in his left is the world he governs. The armor under his robe and the steep rock behind him are commonly read as readiness to defend and a rule that does not bend.
Upright
Stability, power, protection, realization; a great person; aid, reason, conviction; also authority and will.
Reversed
Benevolence, compassion, credit; also confusion to enemies, obstruction, immaturity.
