ON YOUR PHONE AND YOUR COMPUTER
Put the tools one tap away
There is nothing to download. Find your device below and follow the three or four steps; it takes about ten seconds.
This installs from the browser you are reading in — there is nothing to download from a store. You get an icon on your home screen or in your dock, and the site opens in its own window with no address bar. It is the same site and the same account: once you are signed in there, a subscription you have bought is open in it too, with nothing to buy again.
What this is, and what it is not
It is not a download.
No app store, no account with Apple or Google, nothing to approve. The phone saves this site behind its own icon.
It takes almost no space.
A few kilobytes, compared with the tens of megabytes a store app takes. The pages still come over the network when you open them, exactly as they do now.
It asks for nothing.
No permissions — not your contacts, not your location, not your camera. And no notifications, because this site does not send any at all.
You can remove it in a second.
Press and hold the icon and delete it, as you would any other app. Your account, the people you have recorded and your subscription are untouched — they are on the account, not on the phone.
How to install it
iPhone · iPad
In Safari — or, on iOS 16.4 and later, in Chrome or Edge from the same share menu.
- Open this site in Safari.
- Tap the share button — the square with an arrow out of it.
- Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
- Tap Add. The compass icon appears on your home screen.
Android
Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet and Firefox all do this.
- Open this site in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots, top right.
- Tap "Install app", or "Add to Home screen".
- Confirm. Afterwards, a long press on the icon offers shortcuts straight to a reading.
Mac · Windows
Chrome or Edge. Safari on macOS uses File → Add to Dock.
- Open this site in Chrome or Edge.
- Look at the right-hand end of the address bar for the install icon — a screen with an arrow.
- Or open the ⋮ menu and choose "Install…" / "Apps → Install this site".
- It opens in its own window, and appears with your other applications.
What is the same
- Every calculation: your Kua number and four directions, a home's flying star chart, a business's chart, and the relation web.
- The almanac, including the month, date selection and the portents panel if you subscribe.
- Your account — the people and places you have recorded, and the invitations you have sent.
- Your subscription. It lives on your account, not on a device, so it unlocks the same pages here as in a browser. There is nothing to buy again.
What is different, honestly
On iPhone and iPad you sign in once more.
A home-screen app on iOS keeps its own cookies, separate from Safari's. So the first time you open it, you are signed out even if Safari has you signed in. Sign in inside the app and it stays signed in. Your subscription is unaffected — it is recorded against the account, not the browser.
Paying opens the browser for a moment.
Card details are handled by Stripe on its own page, for the subscription and for the shop alike, so paying steps outside this window and comes back when it is done. That is the same arrangement as on the web, and it is why this site never touches a card number.
It needs a connection.
There is no offline copy. A cached copy of a site is a copy that can go stale without telling anybody, and an almanac that is quietly a week old is worse than one that will not load.
No notifications.
This site sends none, and installing it does not change that.
Two questions people ask
- Is this in the App Store or on Google Play?
- No, and it does not need to be. This installs directly from the browser, updates itself the moment the site does, and takes a fraction of the space of a store app.
- Will it take up much room?
- No. What is stored is the icon and a pointer to the site; the pages come over the network like any other page.
