Obsidian is volcanic glass: lava that cooled too quickly to form crystals. That is why a genuine bead breaks with a curved, shell-like edge and shows a faint sheen where the light catches it — and why the dyed glass sold in its place looks flat and evenly black from every angle. Hold one of these beads up to a window and you will see the difference in a second.
The pixiu carved at the center is folk practice rather than formal feng shui. It belongs to no school, appears in no classical text we would cite, and has been worn in southern China for centuries anyway. The carving is deliberate: a mouth, and no opening behind it.
In five-element terms the stone matters more than the carving. Obsidian is Water, the element that settles a room rather than activating it — which is why this is worn, or placed, where things need to quieten down.
Why this object
The pixiu is a guardian creature of Chinese folk belief, carved with a mouth and no vent so that what it gathers stays gathered. It is worn on the wrist rather than placed on a desk, and it belongs to custom rather than to Eight Mansions or Flying Star — we would rather tell you that than dress it up as classical doctrine.
How to wear or place it
Worn on the left wrist, traditionally the receiving side, with the pixiu's head facing away from you. Take it off to sleep and to swim.
If you would rather place it than wear it, the Wealth direction from your own reading is where it goes — the free calculator works that out from your birth date.

How we choose what we sell
Materials, stated plainly
Every listing names what it is made of. If a stone has been dyed or heat-treated, the listing says so.
Certificates you can check
Where a lab certificate exists we show it with its number, so you can verify it yourself rather than take our word.
No promises we can't keep
We explain the tradition behind each object and where it belongs. We never claim it will bring luck, health or money.
Questions
Is it natural?
The material line above states it exactly. Where we hold a lab certificate it is shown with a number you can verify, and if a stone has been treated the listing says so.
Will it bring me luck?
Honestly: no object does that by itself. Feng shui treats objects as the last step, after placement and the room itself. What this gives you is a carefully chosen object, in the right place, as a daily reminder of what you are working toward.
Where exactly should it go?
That depends on you or your home, which is what the free readings calculate. Each one shows the direction or sector, and why.
Where does it ship from, and how long does it take?
From China. We do not keep stock in a U.S. warehouse: each piece is ordered from the workshop that makes it after you order, packed in Guangdong, and flown to you. Processing takes 1–3 business days and shipping 12–20 business days, so most orders arrive 13–23 business days after they are placed. We ship to the United States only. Shipping is included in the price. U.S. import duties or taxes are not: if any are charged on delivery, the buyer pays them.
Shipping and returns?
Shipping is included in the price, so there is nothing extra to pay at checkout. If a piece arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we will send a replacement or refund you in full. The shipping and returns policies are linked beside the Buy button.
