Two Earth Stars, Two Different Cures, One Month

A published November flying star chart matches our own code in all eighteen cells. The cures printed beside it are where the agreement stops.

IN PLAIN WORDS

  1. 1The chart is derivable, and the published one is right. Feng Shui Focus's nine monthly and nine annual sectors for November 7 to December 6 match this site's own code in all eighteen cells, and so do the month's opening and closing dates.
  2. 2The monthly center comes back to 8 this month. In a Horse year the Tiger month opens on 8 and every solar month after is one lower, so ten months on, the sequence has wrapped once through 9 and landed on 8 again.
  3. 3Two Earth stars in one month were given two different elements. The 2 in the Northeast and the 5 in the Southwest are both Earth stars, and Earth generates Metal, so metal drains both. One forecast answers the first with coins and the second with bamboo, which is Wood — the element that controls Earth rather than draining it.
  4. 4The element is checkable; the object is not. Going from a star to the element that drains it is one step with a stated rule. Going from that element to a particular plaque, pagoda or amulet is not a step in any system, and that is as true of what we sell as of what anyone else sells.

Several practitioners published their November flying star forecasts in the last week of October. Two are worth putting side by side. The Singapore site Feng Shui Focus posted a full nine-sector chart on October 30, giving both the annual and the monthly star for every sector and dating the month November 7 to December 6. Helen Keating published a shorter piece on October 31 naming the same date range, no numbers, and a handful of things to place in particular corners.

Forecasts like these are usually hard to check, because the part a reader is asked to act on is the part with no reasoning shown. This month is the exception. The chart itself is arithmetic, and it can be rebuilt from scratch — so we did, with this site's own code, and then compared it cell by cell.

The part that is derivable

A monthly flying star chart needs one number: which star sits in the center. The rule is small enough to state in a line. In a Rat, Horse, Rabbit or Rooster year the Tiger month — the solar month that opens at the Start of Spring — begins with 8 in the center; in an Ox, Dragon, Goat or Dog year it begins with 5; in a Tiger, Monkey, Snake or Pig year with 2. Every solar month after that is one lower, wrapping from 1 back to 9. The other eight sectors are then filled by sending the numbers forward along the fixed path the system always uses.

2026 is a Horse year, so its Tiger month opened on 8, and the sequence has run 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 9 through the year. The Pig month, which the Start of Winter opens on November 7, is the tenth, which puts the sequence back at 8 — the same figure the year started on. That is a checkable claim rather than a pleasing one: nine steps down from 8, wrapping once through 9, lands on 8 again.

Run it out and the nine sectors for November 7 to December 6 come to 9 in the Northwest, 4 in the North, 2 in the Northeast, 1 in the West, 8 in the center, 6 in the East, 5 in the Southwest, 3 in the South and 7 in the Southeast. Feng Shui Focus's monthly figures are those nine, in those nine places. Its annual figures match our annual chart for 2026 too, which is a separate calculation off a separate rule. Eighteen cells, eighteen agreements, and the month's opening and closing dates agree with our own solar-term code as well.

The monthly stars for November 7 to December 6, 2026, north-up, as this site's code computes them: Northwest 9, North 4, Northeast 2 / West 1, center 8, East 6 / Southwest 5, South 3, Southeast 7. The two highlighted sectors hold the month's two difficult Earth stars.

Worth saying plainly, because this site spends most of its time finding the seam in a published claim: there is no seam here. The chart is right.

The CENTRE continues to be very lucky this month with the No 8 Prosperity Star joining the annual No 1 Victory Star.

— Feng Shui Focus, October 30, 2026

The first half of that sentence is derived, and we can confirm it. The second half — lucky — is not the same kind of statement, and nothing above gets you to it.

Where the agreement stops

Both pieces move from the chart to what to do about it, and that is where they stop resembling each other. Feng Shui Focus answers each difficult sector with a named object from its own shop: a plaque for the Southeast, a hanging for the South, a pagoda for the Southwest, a vase or a figurine for the Northeast. Keating answers with materials instead — coins in the Northeast, the West and the South, and bamboo in the Southwest.

The materials version can be checked, because the tradition the chart comes from has a rule about them, and it is one rule. Each of the nine stars carries an element. Feed an auspicious star with the element that generates it; drain a difficult one into the element it generates. Not the element that controls it — controlling a star argues with it, where draining moves it on, and that is the whole difference between resolving something and fighting it. This site states that rule in its own code and applies it everywhere.

So take the month's four marked sectors in turn. The Northeast holds the 2, an Earth star, and Earth generates Metal: coins drain it, which is both the rule and the standard remedy. The West holds the 1, a Water star and a favorable one, and Metal generates Water: coins feed it, which is right for a star you want more of, though it is odd to see it offered as mitigation. The South holds the 3, a Wood star; Wood generates Fire, so fire drains it, while metal merely controls it. And the Southwest holds the 5 — Earth, like the Northeast's 2, and drained by exactly the same metal. Bamboo is Wood, and Wood is the controlling element for Earth: the one answer the rule names and rejects.

That is the finding, and it is narrow. Two Earth stars, in one month, in one forecast, given two different elements — and the element that works on both is the one given to only one of them.

The element follows from the chart; the object does not

This is the distinction the genre blurs, and it is the one worth carrying away. Going from a chart to an element is a single step with a stated rule, and anybody can check it in both directions: look up the star's element, apply generate or drain, and you have the answer the tradition gives. Going from that element to a particular plaque, pagoda, vase or amulet is not a step in any system. It is a product.

We are in no position to be smug about that, because this site sells placement objects and recommends them inside readings. What we try to hold to is the narrower claim: a reading here names the traditional object a method asks for, says which element it belongs to, and does not tell you that buying it changes an outcome. Where a reading calls for something we do not stock, it says so and names the reason rather than offering the nearest thing in the shop. That is a smaller promise than most of this genre makes, and it is the one we can keep.

The useful thing about this month is how much of it holds up. The chart is derivable, a published version of it was right in all eighteen cells, and the dates were right too. That is more than the zodiac rankings we looked at on Sunday can say. The reason is structural rather than anybody's diligence: a flying star chart is arithmetic over two inputs, so a forecaster who does the arithmetic gets the same answer as everybody else who does it. The moment the page moves to what to put in the corner, that constraint is gone — and so, in one of these two forecasts, is the rule.

Our own house and shop tools draw the chart from your building's own facing in degrees rather than from a sector name, and both are free. They will tell you which element a given palace asks for. Neither will tell you that an object will change your month.
