The 2027 Animal Rankings Are the Star Chart
A 2027 forecast sorts the twelve animals into three columns. Every one of them follows the flying star standing in that animal's own compass sector.
IN PLAIN WORDS
- 1The forecast's flying star chart is correct in all nine palaces. It names 8 in the southeast, 1 in the northwest, 6 in the southwest, 4 in the south and 9 in the center; the four it does not number, flagging them for care, are the 5, 2, 3 and 7. Our own code gives exactly that chart.
- 2The twelve-animal ranking is that same chart read a second time. Each branch owns a 15° sector of the compass. Sort the animals by the 2027 star standing in their own sector and all twelve columns come out — stars 8, 1 and 4 are the Winners, 6 and 7 the Stable, 3, 2 and 5 the Challengers. No exceptions.
- 3The tell is that the animals move in pairs. Ox and Tiger, Dragon and Snake, Goat and Monkey, and Dog and Pig share a corner sector two apiece, and in all four pairs both animals land in the same column — which a reading of the twelve branches would not produce.
- 4A sector reading is about a place, not about everybody born in a year. The Dog sits in the northwest, which holds the year's best star, and is ranked a Winner — while the one layer that really is about a Dog's own branch makes it both a punishment and a break with the Goat.
The Manila Times covered a press conference in Bonifacio Global City on October 12 at which Marites Allen set out her forecast for 2027, the year of the Fire Sheep. Two things on that page can be checked against arithmetic rather than taste: a Flying Star annual chart, given as a star for five of the nine palaces and a warning on the other four, and a ranking of the twelve animals into columns she calls Winners, Stable and Challengers. We ran both through this site's own code.
The chart is right — all nine palaces. The animal ranking is also right, in the sense that it is internally consistent and derived from something real. But it is not a reading of the twelve branches, which is what a column headed by an animal's name looks like. It is the same star chart again, read through each animal's own slice of the compass. Nothing on the page says so, and that is the part worth writing about.
The chart checks out, for the second time this week
2027 is Yin Fire Goat: the stem Ding, yin fire, over the branch Wei, the Goat, which is earth. That is what the article means by "Yin Fire" and "Sheep Earth", and its observation that the pair shows no visible metal is true of both characters as written. The annual center star is 9 — our own function is anchored on 2024 = 3 and steps down one per solar year — and flying it forward through the fixed Lo Shu path gives 1 in the northwest, 5 in the north, 3 in the northeast, 2 in the west, 9 in the center, 7 in the east, 6 in the southwest, 4 in the south and 8 in the southeast.
The article names five of those: 8 in the southeast, 1 in the northwest, 6 in the southwest, 4 in the south, 9 in the center. Five for five. It numbers none of the remaining four, saying only that greater care is advised in the north, west, northeast and east — which hold 5, 2, 3 and 7. That is not a vague hedge; it is the exact complement, and those four are exactly the four stars this tradition treats as difficult. The chart is complete and it is correct. This is the second 2027 annual chart we have checked this week, from a different publisher on a different continent, and the second that we could find nothing wrong with.
Which six animals the year actually touches
The earthly branch layer is small enough to state in full, and our zodiac code holds all of it. Against the Goat, the year branch: the Horse is its six-harmony partner. The Rabbit and the Pig complete Pig–Rabbit–Goat, the wood trine. The Ox is both its clash — the direct opposite — and part of the Ox–Dog–Goat punishment. The Rat is its harm. The Dog is both its punishment, in that same set, and its break. The Goat itself is in its own Tai Sui year, sitting on its own year. That is six animals plus the Goat. The other five — Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Monkey, Rooster — stand in no named relation to the Goat whatsoever.
Lay the article's three columns against that list and it does not fit. The Dog carries two adverse relations, one more than the Rat, and is a Winner. The Rabbit shares a trine with the Pig and sits a column below it. The Dragon and the Snake have no relation to the year at all and are Winners; the Tiger and the Rooster have no relation either and are Challengers. Five of the twelve animals are sorted into three different columns on the strength of a layer that says nothing about any of them.
It is sorted by sector, not by sign
The twelve branches are twelve of the 24 Mountains, so each of them owns a precise 15° sector of the compass — which is the fact that lets the zodiac sit on the same dial as the Flying Star and Eight Mansions layers, and the fact this site's own code is built on. Map each animal to its sector, read the 2027 star standing there, and the columns fall out:
Star 8 in the southeast: Dragon and Snake — both Winners. Star 1 in the northwest: Dog and Pig — both Winners. Star 4 in the south: Horse — Winner. Star 6 in the southwest: Goat and Monkey — both Stable. Star 7 in the east: Rabbit — Stable. Star 3 in the northeast: Ox and Tiger — both Challengers. Star 2 in the west: Rooster — Challenger. Star 5 in the north: Rat — Challenger. Twelve for twelve, with the bucket boundaries falling exactly where this tradition puts them: 8, 1 and 4 are the auspicious stars, 6 and 7 the middling ones, 3, 2 and 5 the difficult ones.
The tell is that the animals move in pairs. Four of the eight sectors are corners and hold two branches apiece — Ox and Tiger in the northeast, Dragon and Snake in the southeast, Goat and Monkey in the southwest, Dog and Pig in the northwest — and in all four pairs both animals land in the same column. The four cardinals hold one branch each — Rat, Horse, Rabbit and Rooster — and each of those goes where its own star sends it. A reading of the twelve branches has no reason to pair animals up that way; a compass chart has no way to avoid it.
Her own notes say as much wherever she gives a reason. The Rabbit is flagged for caution over finances and trust "under the No. 7 Star" — and 7 is the star in the east, which is precisely the Rabbit's own sector. The Dog is listed a Winner with diplomacy needed: 1 in the northwest is the best number on the board in 2027, and the Dog is both a punishment and a break with the year. Both layers are being read, and read competently. Only one of them reaches the reader as a verdict.
Individual destiny charts matter more than the animal sign alone.
Our honest read
Credit first, because it is owed and because this genre rarely earns it. The chart is correct in every palace. The year is described as beginning twice — the Start of Spring (Li Chun) on February 4, 2027, for the four-pillars reckoning, lunar new year on February 6 — which is a distinction most forecasts collapse and one we wrote about a week ago. The quoted caveats are the right ones: that a full chart needs exact birth details, that a forecast is not a prediction, that feng shui does not settle legal questions. Somebody checking this page against their own arithmetic will find the arithmetic sound.
What we would change is one line. The column an animal lands in is doing real work, drawn from a real chart, and the reader is given no way to see it. Told "Dog: Winner", they cannot know that the reason is a star standing in a compass sector rather than anything about the year they were born, nor that the layer which genuinely is about their branch says the opposite. Printing the sector and its number beside each animal would cost a few words and would turn the whole column from a verdict into something checkable — which, on the evidence of the chart above it, this forecast could well afford.
We say this as people who have to answer the same question. Our own almanac tells a reader that the day clashes with their branch, and then stops; it does not convert that into a verdict about their week. Where we suggest activating or settling a sector, it is a sector we are talking about, and the page says so. A reading survives having its steps shown. A ranking that cannot be traced back to a rule is a ranking a reader has to take on trust, and trust is the one thing none of us should be asking for here.
